We are not alone......
"Who controls the past, controls the future, and, who controls the present controls the past." -The Pentagon Papers
In science fiction films made in the USA during the "Cold War" the "alien" or "the other" was often identified with the threat of communism. The national security doctrine continually seeks to identify difference from outside [and increasingly inside] of the USA as threat, resulting in the abuse of human rights at both a domestic and global level.
Akshuns are utilised to address these issues, drawing attention to the relationship between the projected image [example; "Close Encounters of a Third Kind", "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "The Thing".] and the reality - the use of 'rendering' by the USA as a means of transporting dissident nationals or suspected terrorists to locations outside American jurisdiction to be tortured.
The akshuns also hint at levels of reality beyond our comprehension and the potential for accessing other possible worlds as a means of redemption.
